Intro to VegaOS

Before we jump into the coding part, let's cover the important things you need to know about VegaOS and what it means for building Fire TV apps with React Native.

Fire TV is Amazon's line of streaming devices - sticks, cubes, and smart TVs. It has over 225 million streaming devices globally. It's a massive, underserved platform for developers.

The Amazon Appstore supports two different operating systems:

• Fire OS - Android-based apps for the full Fire TV and Fire Tablet ecosystem.
• Vega OS - Amazon's next-generation, purpose-built OS for Fire TV, built on Linux. Build apps using React Native and the Vega SDK, starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Select.
